Hersenspinsels / Phantasms

This is a publication I made in my propaedeutic year on the Art Academy. It's about my neighbour who always was a chearfull person, full of energy and involved in lots of activites. Slowly, he became more quiet, and all of a sudden he didn't wave anymore if he was passing by, he wouldn't come out of the house anymore, wouldn't awnser the phone or anything. He fell into a depression. His partner didn;t inderstand him, nobody really did. Something, some idea or fear or whatever, krept into his mind. It's been 4 years, and only slowly he's improving. A depression has such a big impact on peoples lives. I tried to visualise the elusive feeling of a depression. The publication is called Hersenspinsels, or in English Phantasms.
The publication zooms out of a persons mind, making the person smaller and smaller. A transparent sheet contains a distortion that grows bigger and bigger.
Zooming into a troubled, dark mind. Indefinable thing floating around.
Japanese binding

To see the entire publication, check it out on Issuu. Thou there's parts missing (the transparent sheets) and you cannot see the shiny paper.
